Care for Leather Series
The leather used in LIFESTYLIST products is crafted from high-quality "Tochigi Leather," renowned both domestically and internationally for its full vegetable tanning process—a traditional method that uses plant-based materials instead of chemical agents.
Our skilled artisans process the leather to highlight its natural texture and character to the fullest.
Just as human skin comes with its unique tones, freckles, and marks, each piece of leather carries its own individuality. Rather than concealing these natural characteristics, we embrace the unique grain patterns, vein marks, and spots distinctive to cowhide, preserving its authentic beauty.
During the cutting process, we employ techniques tailored to the material, ensuring that even sections typically discarded are utilized as much as possible, reducing waste and maximizing the gifts of nature.
In the stitching process, each item is carefully sewn by skilled artisans, one by one, with meticulous attention to detail. Due to the handcrafted nature of the process, slight traces from the sewing machine may remain. However, these marks will blend over time with use, enhancing the product's character.
No two leather products are identical. As you use your leather item, it will gradually mold to your hand, developing a beautiful patina and unique shape. We hope you’ll enjoy the aging process, adding your own story to this product crafted from natural blessings and artisanal craftsmanship.
How to Care for Leather Products
Leather products naturally develop a beautiful patina over time as they absorb essential oils from your hands during daily use, enhancing their softness and luster.
If you haven’t used your leather item for a while or if it requires maintenance after extended use, we recommend TAPIR Leder Oil.
TAPIR Leder Oil is a specialized leather care oil made from 100% natural ingredients, including castor oil and rapeseed oil. It uses organic, non-GMO plant-based materials and adheres to strict quality control standards, avoiding organic solvents during production. This oil cleans while replenishing the leather's natural oils, maintaining its flexibility. It also provides waterproofing and enhances shine, making it suitable not only for LIFESTYLIST leather products but also for leather interiors, clothing, and even wooden items.
<Care Instructions>
STEP 1. Shake the container well to thoroughly mix any separated contents.
STEP 2. Apply a small amount of oil to a soft cloth and spread it evenly across the surface, gently massaging it into the leather.
Tip: Use sparingly and apply carefully, as over-application may cause staining.
Note: When using on light-colored leather, the leather may darken. Always test the oil on an inconspicuous area first.
Care for the Canvas Series
Our canvas series features a custom cotton canvas fabric, woven exclusively for LIFESTYLIST by Marushin Industries in Kurashiki, Okayama—a company with over 100 years of history in manufacturing Kurashiki canvas. The fabric is crafted using high-quality organic cotton threads produced in western Turkey, shipped to Japan by sea.
This cotton fabric is both elegant and versatile, suitable for a variety of settings. It is durable, breathable, and washable, making it a product you can enjoy for many years to come.
<Care Instructions>
STEP 1. Soak the item in lukewarm water mixed with a neutral detergent.
STEP 2. For heavily soiled areas, apply detergent directly and gently scrub with a brush.
Note: Avoid scrubbing too hard with the brush, as this may cause the fabric to fray.
STEP 3. Rinse thoroughly with water to ensure no detergent residue remains.
Tip: Inadequate rinsing may leave detergent behind, which can lead to yellowing.
STEP 4. To prevent deformation and absorb excess moisture, stuff the bag with plenty of towels.
Note: Cotton fabrics take shape as they dry. Properly stuffing the bag helps it maintain its form and reduces wrinkles.
STEP 5. Air-dry the item in a well-ventilated area under direct sunlight for quick drying.
Care for Organic Cotton Products
Our original fabric, woven in a herringbone pattern, is made from 100% organic cotton threads produced in domestic factories.
This cotton is derived from organically grown cotton plants cultivated without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, making it a material that is kind to the environment (soil and water) and to the producers.
Cotton is highly absorbent, breathable, and retains moisture, offering a soft and comfortable feel against the skin.
Clothing made from cotton can be re-dyed. You can enjoy the natural aging process of the fabric as you wear it. If stains that won’t come out develop, you can dye it in your favorite color to give it a second life. Even after re-dyeing, the fabric can be repurposed as a cleaning cloth, allowing you to enjoy it until the very end.
<Basic Care Instructions>
Since this product is made from natural materials, avoid washing it together with colored items to prevent color transfer.
Cotton tends to retain its shape as it dries, so smooth out wrinkles before hanging it to dry.
If fold lines or wrinkles are a concern while traveling, hang the item in a humid bathroom overnight, and the wrinkles should smooth out by morning.
For quicker results, lightly spray the fabric with water and gently pat it to smooth out wrinkles. For stubborn creases, using a steam iron is also recommended.

<How to Handle Perfume Bottles>
- Always store the bottle with the cap tightly closed.
The primary ingredient in perfume is ethanol, which is volatile. Exposure to air can accelerate the oxidation of the fragrance, potentially altering the scent, causing discoloration to an amber (yellow) hue, or leading to hardening of the liquid.
- Store in a location away from direct sunlight.
For added protection, consider using a dedicated perfume box or covering the bottle with fabric to shield it from light.
Care for HAKUJI Products
The HAKUJI kiln is operated by Tsuji Seijisha, a renowned ceramic maker based in Arita, Saga Prefecture, one of Japan's most famous pottery regions. With a lineage spanning 15 generations (350 years), they have long been entrusted with crafting tableware for the Imperial Household, embodying meticulous craftsmanship.
The white of HAKUJI represents a sacred color of gratitude. Above all, these products are created with heartfelt wishes for your physical and mental well-being.
<In Case of Damage>
If your product is unintentionally broken, we recommend considering the option of Kintsugi (golden joinery).
Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique for repairing broken pottery, and it has a unique charm—its golden seams transform the cracks into a beautiful, original feature, making the item feel even more cherished than before.
“Repair it with Kintsugi when it breaks.”
When this becomes a natural part of daily life, it may change the way you approach choosing and appreciating pottery.
The mended pieces, with their golden seams, form a new kind of beauty in white porcelain. We hope you’ll continue to treasure your item for many years to come.
Care for the Linen Series
Linen Calm Dress / Linen Calm Shirts / Linen Calm Pants
These products are made from ramie-linen, a blend of two types of flax fibers: Ramie (from the nettle family) for its firmness and durability, and Linen for its softness, mixed in a 50/50 ratio. The blending of fibers with different lengths is a challenging process, achieved using Japan's advanced spinning techniques.
The fabric is carefully dyed in small batches, giving it a unique color, natural wrinkle texture, and the rich character of sun-dried linen. Durable, easy to clean, and offering excellent breathability and moisture retention, these products are designed to blend seamlessly into everyday life.
Linen Apron
Made with 100% Japanese natural linen, the apron uses a heavyweight fabric spun with the traditional semi-wet spinning method, emphasizing the inherent qualities of thick-count (No. 8) yarn. It features a natural wrinkle texture and soft, rich feel.
<Care Instructions>
Linen, as a natural material, tends to wrinkle easily.
- After washing, avoid direct sunlight and hang to dry inside out. Smooth out wrinkles and shape the fabric as much as possible before drying.
- If wrinkles are noticeable during use, lightly mist the fabric with water and smooth it with your hands, or use a steam iron for a polished look.
For storage, avoid direct sunlight and keep the item on a hanger in a well-ventilated area.
<Using a Washing Machine>
Gentle handwashing is recommended. If using a washing machine, place the item in a laundry bag and select a "delicate" or "handwash" cycle.
- Separate from dark-colored items, as natural fabrics may bleed during washing.
- Avoid using a tumble dryer, as the fabric may shrink.
